Competent graduate horticulturists from this programme are capable of integrating horticultural components in farming systems; provide technical solutions compatible with the available resources; conversant with large scale and specialized corporate horticultural production and smallholder horticulture systems, greenhouse production sustainably with local and export marketing skills.
The graduates are planners, organizers, managers and administrators and entrepreneurs in horticultural production systems like floriculture, viticulture, ornamental, vegetable production and landscape designing.

LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of the programme the graduate will be able to:
- Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of sustainable ways to make horticultural crops more productive and profitable.
- Able to employ themselves in horticultural-based and related firms.
- Manage horticultural projects, natural resources and environment.
- Assist farmers on matter related to sustainable ways of improving horticultural crops productivity.
- Formulate and execute research analyse and interpret data in the domain of horticulture

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Two principal passes (4 points) in Chemistry and Biology. In addition, the applicant must have at least a subsid-iary pass in one of the following subjects: Geography, Physics or Agriculture or Science and Practice of Agriculture Mathematics. OR Diploma in Agriculture, Crop Production, Horticulture, Agro-mechanics with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, the applicant must have obtained at least a “D” grade in two of the following subjects at the O level: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography or Science and Practice of Agriculture.
