POSITION: Postdoctoral Researcher (PDR) – (2 POSTS) 

This position will provide technical input to a new 4-year capacity development project - The Development Corridor Partnership - Building Capacity in Africa and China for Sustainable Development Corridors (DCP) - funded by the UK Research Councils through the Global Challenges Research Fund.

DCP aims to enhance the capacity of researchers in Kenya, Tanzania, China and UK to deliver research and utreach activities that contribute to addressing the natural capital and human development opportunities and challenges posed by the creation of ‘development corridors’ in Africa. The project will particularly focus on links to investments from China in the context of the broader ‘Belt and Road’ initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS
The project is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (PDR) with a PhD and/or good Masters in Ecosystems Science and Management, Forest Resources Assessment, MNRSA, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, Environmental Science and associated fields.
 
RESIPONSIBILITIES 
The PDR will support the programme on field assessments and mapping of ecosystem services, natural capital, biodiversity, and hydrology, with time spent collaborating with researchers from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and WWF –TCO (Tanzania), University of Nairobi and the African Conservation Centre (Kenya), the Universities of Cambridge, York and the London School of Economics (UK) and three government think tanks in China.

Researchers with expertise in assessing the environmental impacts of development projects, assessment and valuation of Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity and the Socio-economic context of natural capital ecosystem services and biodiversity are particularly encouraged to apply to join the multidisciplinary team.

Academic staff with relevant qualifications holding PhD and/or MSc from Sokoine University of Agriculture are encouraged to apply.

TERMS OF SERVICE 
12 months Fixed Term Contract with a possibility of extension up to four years in total.
