The programme is aimed to develop managers, researchers, trainers and entrepreneurs in the forest engineering sphere with innovative knowledge, skills and values in management of forest engineering operations in an environment of increasing public scrutiny and environmental concern; with an understanding of the processes and challenges related to the efficient and environmentally acceptable in order to enhance sustainable exploitation of the forest resource within the engineering principles and quality product.
ABOUT PROGRAMME
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The M.Sc. (FOE) Programme consists 12 credits of coursework and a dissertation. Year 1 will be devoted to coursework while a candidate is expected to conduct research and submit a dissertation not later than 12 months after successful completion of coursework.
The submitted dissertation will be examined by internal and external examiners as stipulated in the Sokoine University of Agriculture Regulations and Guidelines for Postgraduate students.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Sokoine University of Agriculture admission and registration requirements for graduate students applies. Admission into M.Sc. (Forest Operations Engineering.) shall require applicants to have a B.Sc. in Forestry, B.Sc. Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Applicants whose first degree is considered deficient in forest engineering shall be required to take remedial courses in FEN 201 Logging and ergonomics; and FEN 301 Transportation and Forest Roads after consultation with the Head of Department of Forest Engineering.
