Diploma in Tropical Animal Health and Production

The programme is designed to produce Veterinary Paraprofessionals, competent in basic theoretical and practical knowledge in farm animal health and disease control. These paraprofessionals are able to provide primary animal health care in emerging commercial and semi-commercial livestock farming in rural and urban communities. They are excellent  in  general epidemiological surveys and minor surgical procedures as prescribed by the Tanzania Veterinary Council. Our graduates are ethical in animal handling and good client relationships

LEARNING OUTCOME

Students who graduate from this program should be able to: 

  1. Demonstrate knowledge on animal health and show ability in the practical application of animal health disease control and prevention in the field
  2. Provide primary animal health care to emerging livestock farmers and semi-commercial farmers in the rural communities.
  3. Performa general epidemiological surveys and minor surgical procedures as prescribed by the Tanzania Veterinary Council.
  4. Demonstrate professional conduct as prescribed by the Tanzania Veterinary council as well as ethic in animal handling, honesty punctuality and good client relationships.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

At least one principal pass in Biology and any of the following subjects Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, Geography or Science and Practice of Agriculture at A level secondary Education with a total of two points (2pts) In addition, such candidates must also have O-level passes in English and mathematics. OR Certificate in Animal Health (Agrovet), Certificate in Animal Health and Production (AHPC), Certificate in Agricultural and Livestock Production (CALP). In addition, a holder of such certificates should have passed English and any three of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics Geography or Physics at O-Level. 

FEES

TZS 900,000/= for Tanzanians and TZS 6,311,400 for international students;
