Students’ Accommodation Services
STUDENTS’ ACCOMMODATION SERVICES AT SUA FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2026/27
1. INTRODUCTION
The Sokoine University of Agriculture Staff Housing and Students’ Accommodation Bureau (SUAHAB) coordinates and manages student accommodation services at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Limited University hostel accommodation is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students across the following campuses:
• Edward Moringe Campus (EMC)
• Solomon Mahlangu Campus (SMC)
• Mizengo Pinda Campus (MPC)
Our hostels provide a convenient living environment to support students throughout their studies.
2. ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES
Hostel rooms are furnished with essential facilities, including:
• Bed and mattress
• Table and chair
• Book Shelves and Wardrobes
Undergraduate students are accommodated in shared rooms, depending on room capacity, while postgraduate students are normally accommodated in single rooms.
3. HOW TO APPLY FOR ACCOMMODATION
Applying for University accommodation is simple:
Step 1: Log In
Log in to your SUA student account and select the Accommodation Menu.
Step 2: Apply
Complete the online accommodation application by providing all the required information accurately.
Step 3: Receive Allocation and Control Number
Successful applicants will receive accommodation allocation information and a Control Number for payment.
Step 4: Make Payment
Pay the required accommodation fee using the issued Control Number within the specified period. Note that, once paid the accommodation fees will not be refunded.
Step 5: Report to Your Hostel
Upon arrival at SUA, report to your allocated hostel for registration and collection of your room key and mattress.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
i. Accommodation application dates, payment deadlines, reporting dates, and other related timelines may vary from one Academic Year to another. Students should therefore regularly check official SUA announcements and comply with all deadlines communicated for the respective Academic Year.
ii. Students are strongly advised to complete the self-registration process before travelling to SUA.
4. ACCOMMODATION PRIORITY FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
In accordance with the SUA Staff Housing and Students’ Accommodation Policy (2018) and its Guidelines, priority for undergraduate accommodation is generally given to:
4.1 Students with physical disabilities or approved medical conditions
4.2 Foreign students
4.3 First-year students
4.4 Female students
4.5 Final-year students
4.6 Continuing students
Note: Postgraduate students do not have specific accommodation priority categories. Allocation is subject to room availability.
5. ACCOMMODATION FEES
5.1 Postgraduate Students
Postgraduate students are normally accommodated in single rooms.
Accommodation Fee:
TShs. 1,800,000 per academic year
In addition, students securing postgraduate accommodation for the first time shall pay a:
• Non-refundable depreciation fee: TShs. 20,000
These charges apply to both local and international students.
5.2 Undergraduate and Non-Degree Students
Undergraduate accommodation is provided on a shared basis.
5.2.1 Foreign students
• Normally two students per room
• Accommodation Fee: USD 140 per academic year
5.2.2 Tanzania local students
i. Accommodation fees for local students shall depend on the capacity of the allocated room and number of days per academic year as follows:

Four (4) students TShs. 127,800 TShs. 255,600
Six (6) students TShs. 106,500 TShs. 213,000
ii. First-year undergraduate students shall also pay a:
• Non-refundable depreciation fee: TShs. 10,000.00
• Accommodation fee for orientation week: TShs. 7,000.00 for Two (2) students room, TShs. 6,30.00.00 for Four (4) students room and TShs. 5,250.00 for six (6) students room
6. ROOM RESERVATION FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
Foreign students may reserve accommodation by paying either:
• At least half of the annual accommodation fee (one semester’s fee); or
• The full annual accommodation fee.
Reservations are subject to the applicable University procedures and availability of rooms.
7. ACCOMMODATION DURING LONG VACATIONS
University hostel accommodation may be available during long vacations, subject to availability.
7.1 Students on Academic Activities
7.1.1 This includes students participating in:
• Field practical training
• Study tours
• Research activities
• Other approved academic activities
7.1.2 Applicable Rates
• SUA local students: TShs. 1,250 per day per bed
• Students from other local institutions: TShs. 1,350 per day per bed
• Foreign students: USD 1.70 per day per bed
7.2 Seminars, Conferences and Other Official Activities
Non-students attending official activities such as:
• Seminars
• Conferences
• Meetings
• Sports and games
• Other official activities at SUA or within Morogoro Municipality may be accommodated during long vacations, subject to availability.
Rate: TShs. 6,500 per person per day per bed
8. IMPORTANT ACCOMMODATION RULES
Students allocated University accommodation are required to:
i. Take proper care of all University property.
ii. Keep hostel rooms and surrounding areas clean.
iii. Report any damage or loss immediately to the Warden or SUAHAB Coordinator.
iv. Students are not allowed to remove, transfer, or damage University furniture, fittings, or other property.
v. All students are required to comply with the applicable University Students’ By-Laws, Students’ Accommodation Policy, Guidelines, and Hostel Regulations.

The Sokoine University of Agriculture warmly welcomes prospective and continuing students to enjoy safe and convenient accommodation across its campuses.
Accommodation is allocated subject to availability and in accordance with the applicable University policies, guidelines, and procedures.
