Information and records management is required in virtually all types of organizations, both public and private. The programme has been designed to produce competent personnel that effectively manage recorded information in an ever-changing environment in print, electronic and hybrid environment. Graduates for this degree programme will find employment in all government offices, institutions, libraries, media institutions, archival institutions as well as information and documentation centers
ABOUT PROGRAMME
LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of the programme the candidate should be able to:
- Describe scientific principles and practices applicable in information and records management activities.
- Organize different types of information and record formats in accordance to the internationally recognized standards
- Apply knowledge management concepts and strategies to address various forms of information and records management practices
- Classify different types of information facilities (libraries, information centres, documentation centres, record centres, archives etc) and be able to manage their day to day activities
- Solve information and records management problems by effective utilization of principles of information management and records administration
- Identify appropriate ICTs and use them effectively to manage information and to administer records in various organizations
- Identify business opportunities in information and records management activities and articulate them as employment opportunities

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Two principal passes (4 points) in any of the following subjects: History, Kiswahili, English, Economics, Accountancy, Nutrition, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography or Science and Practice of Agriculture. OR Diploma in Record Achieves Management, Public Administration, Human Resource Management or Library and Information studies OR Diploma in Records and Achieves Management, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Library and Information studies, Information and Communication Technology, or a related field with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, the applicant must have obtained at least a grade “D” in four non-religious subjects at the O-Level.
FEES
TZS 1,000,000/= per annum; and: TZS 8,108,900/= for international students.
