Journalists from Sokoine University of Agriculture’s Radio and TV (SUAMEDIA), Ms. Josephine Mallango and Farida Mkongwe have emerged as second place winners in the prestigious scientific Journalists Awards in Tanzania presented by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) for the year 2019.
In the awards, Ms. Farida Mkongwe named the best second winner in the category of the best producer of science program in Television for 2019 while first winner is ITV's Sifuni Mshana and Ms. Josephine Mallango emerged the second best winner in Radio side while the first winner is David Rwenyagila from East African Radio and Mr. Daniel Simbelya emerged as the first winner on the Magazine side.
Mr. David Rwenyagila was also named the overall winner and he will be joined by First winner on TV category, Sifuni Mshana from ITV and Daniel Simbelya who is First winner in Magazine category to compete with other African winners in the awards of the best journalist of the year for 2019, the award was won by Mr. Calvin Edward Gwabara of SUAMEDIA in 2018.
The awards were presented on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 in Dar es salaam by the Director-General of COSTECH, Dr. Amos Nungu and attended by Journalists and various Science stakeholders from various institutions from Tanzania and abroad.
Certainly, this is a good start for Ms. Farida and Josephine for it is their first time ever to participe in Journalism Awards. Congratulations!
