SUA Students Gain Handson Experience in Their Field of Study

Students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Wood Technology and Value Addition at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) continue to engage in the production of various furniture pieces at the Furniture Factory located at the Solomon Mahlangu Campus in Morogoro, as part of their ongoing practical training at the university.

The students, who are in their second year including Vivian Gwambo and Grayson Godfrey said that,  learning by doing, as they are currently experiencing during this field training period, helps them acquire the skills and knowledge to perform tasks they previously only studied theoretically in class.

Vivian, whose responsibility this week at the factory is to operate and oversee the wood kiln, ensures that the timber is properly dried to remove moisture, which otherwise compromises the quality and strength of the wood during furniture production.
