Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), has emerged as the second winner of the Best Presented Financial Statements for the Year 2019 Awards in the category of Higher Education institutions. The event was organized by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) on December 5, 2020, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Speaking at the awards giving ceremony, the Commissioner for Finance in the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Dr. Charles Mwamaja, who was the guest of honor, said that the Awards mean a great deal to Institutions and Accountants so that they can assess whether they comply with International Accounting Standards and maintain their service standards.
He also commended all the Institutions that participated in the awards as doing so is a measure of accountability.
Speaking immediately after receiving the award, the Chief Financial Officer of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) Mr. Peter Lubuwa said this was the second time SUA had participated in the awards where last year they were third place winners.
"We have been the second winners this year unlike last year where we were the third winners so we believe next year we will be the first," said Mr. Peter
