Former South African President Thabo Mbeki Plants Tree in Honor of Freedom Fighters at SUA

Former President of the Republic of South Africa, Hon. Thabo Mbeki, planted a tree beside the graves of the nation's freedom fighters during a special visit to the Solomon Mahlangu Campus of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) on May 22, 2025.

He planted the tree as part of efforts to support the fight against climate change and to honor the strong historical ties between Tanzania and South Africa.

Adam Malima, the University Chancellor, Retired Judge Hon. Warioba, Vice Chairperson of the Council Ms. Dorothy Mwanyika, university management, and various SUA staff members.
