Speaking at a press briefing at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), Prof. Maulid Mwatawala, SUA’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Consultancy), announced that the Guest of Honour is Hon. Dr. Doto Biteko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy.

Prof. Mwatawala said the conference is timely, aligning with the vision of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is strongly committed to strengthening agriculture, improving nutrition, and promoting public health in Tanzania.

Prof. Joyce Kinabo, Co-Chair from SUA, noted the conference will address strategies to remove institutional barriers and build resilient food systems and sustainable economies, linking food production to healthy eating habits.

She also raised concern over pressing issues like climate change, malnutrition, and rising obesity, which continue to affect communities even in food-producing regions.
