Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for administration and finance Prof. Fredrick C. Kahimba has made a visit to various development project sites which is managed and implemented by the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)
The two-day visit, 15th and 16th May, 2019, was aimed at showing the newly appointed leaders and staff in the Directorate of planning and development and Department of Estates and Works their roles in the success of these projects as well as challenges facing them.
Speaking during the site visit, Prof. Kahimba was impressed by the ongoing projects which are in good track including the Multipurpose Laboratory construction at Main Campus and Solomon Mahlangu Campus Hospital. He urged the new leaders to take charge of the Projects and use the buildings that were left without any activities for a long time.
“Let’s revive this furniture factory as we will need it for our students during practical and also to make furniture’s for our classrooms, offices and hostels to avoid unnecessary spending’s” said Prof. Kahimba
Projects site visited by the team at the main campus are the School of Agriculture Economics and Business Studies, New Cafeteria, Nicholaus Kuhanga Hostels Laundry, Multipurpose Laboratory construction site, Hay-shed, New Lecture Theaters, ICE Hostel Laundry and House No. 5. For Mazimbu Campus the team visited Gowdowns, Vuyisile Furniture Factory, Solomon Mahlangu Campus Hospital, Classroom and Physics Lab.
