Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), in partnership with government and private ICT stakeholders, organized a one day workshop to help youth learn new digital skills and take advantage of the digital economy's opportunities.
The event took place on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Edward Moringe Campus in Morogoro and was opened by the Director of the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies, Research, Technology Transfer and Consultancy Professor Esron Karimuribo.
In his speech, Professor Karimuribo explained the importance of the platform as it helps many young people to build digital skills and knowledge, to understand various opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship thus enabling them to increase their income.
"As we know the world is moving fast, so we can choose to go with that speed by inventing new technologies that will help us. We at SUA have managed to have various digital systems that have been researched by our experts and help us bring economic development", said Prof. karimuribo
In his presentation to the attendees, Dr. Alcardo Alex Barakabitze of SUA's Department of Information Technology explained that such platforms help to provide young people with skills and knowledge that will help them build a stronger economy. He used the opportunity to advise more young people to join such platforms in order to understand and use the various opportunities available in information and communication technologies.
Dr. Neema Sumari, also from the Department of Information Technology - SUA, spoke about entrepreneurship opportunities in the Digital Economy and how young people can improve their lives.
These events are used to encourage the development of young people to be able to get rid of themselves economically and had the slogan Transformative Youth Digital Spaces.
A key objective of this forum was to encourage the economic development of young people, with the slogan “Transformative Youth Digital Spaces”.
