Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research and Consultancy) Prof. Maulid Mwatawala has told the public that this is the right time for any student to choose to study at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).
This is because SUA helps each of its students to acquire the right knowledge and modern skills that will help them to be employed or self-employed easily after graduation.
Prof. Mwatawala said this at the 17th Exhibition organized by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) which started on July 18, 2022, at the Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam where SUA is a participant.
He said that SUA is very different from other universities in the country because it provides its education in a more practical way.
"SUA has a training farm where all students taking degrees related to agriculture spend more of their time on the farm, for library and record keeping students they spend their time in the National Agricultural Library at SUA, Veterinary students spend more their time at the National Animal Referral Hospital and other fields as well," said Prof. Mwatawala.
He explained that the University supports the Government's efforts in ensuring that students who graduate from various levels of education are not dependent only on jobs provided by the government or the private sector, but can be self-employed, thus helping to reduce the employment challenge for graduates.
The exhibition is expected to be officially opened by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa July 19, 2022, at Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam.
