Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) has ranked Third among Higher Education Institutions in the National Innovation Week Exhibition held in Dodoma from April 24th, 2023 to April 28th, 2023.
Speaking at the summit of the exhibition, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adolf F. Mkenda (MP) has said, the government will ensure that it develops Science, Technology and Innovation as the Article 102 of the CCM Declaration says.
He said that Science, Technology and Innovation are things that can bring economic development quickly as there is currently a TANZTECH Company that will start producing tablets in the country.
Prof. Mkenda said if the programme starts, then the government will join through various colleges to help students having special training in electronics and engineering.
Speaking at the peak of the exhibition, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Prof. Carolyne Nombo said that since the inception of the Science, Technology and Innovation Competition in 2019, more than 2,600 young designers and inventors were identified and recognized in the Ministry.
She said that the exhibition is the strategy of the sixth phase of the government to ensure that various technologies and innovations are brought out to ensure that the nation makes progress in accelerating economic and social development.
In addition, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor- Academic, Research and Consultancy, Prof. Maulid Mwatawala has given an opinion to the designers of universities in the country, including SUA, to ensure that they have creativity with high standards. Creativity is at various levels starting from ordinary citizens, Middle Colleges and Universities, so the expectations of many citizens are to get better creative results from universities.
Prof. Mwatawala gave that opinion on April 28th, 2023 while talking to designers from SUA at the 2023 Innovation Week exhibition held at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.
