Dairy farmers in Mafinga, Iringa Region, are stepping up! Thanks to training from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) through the NANO COM Project, farmers are now producing safer, high-quality milk and turning it into a powerful economic tool.

With new skills in hygiene, mastitis detection, and milk processing, farmers like Oscar Ngimba are already seeing the difference: “We’re making value-added products like yogurt and attracting more customers!”
SUA’s Dr. Nuria Majaliwa emphasized that milk is more than just food. It's a business opportunity. When handled right, it boosts income, meets global standards, and improves nutrition.
Twenty nine livestock keepers participated in the training, with women making up 11 participants of the total. This reflects the project’s efforts to promote gender inclusion in national development and income generation.
The NANO COM Project, supported by Canada’s IDRC, is transforming livelihoods by empowering farmers along the milk value chain. Clean milk, stronger health, stronger incomes, and stronger communities!
