First Year Students are Encouraged to Focus on Studies

First year 2024/25 students who joined the Sokoine University of Agriculture have been assured that they have made the right choice and the office of the Dean of students will do all that is possible to assist students in their academic endeavors. Furthermore, they were encouraged to focus on their studies all the time they will be at SUA so that they can fulfill their academic goals.

First Year Students are Encouraged to Focus on Studies

The call has been made by Acting Dean of Student Ms. Hilda Gamuya while orienting first year students 2024/2025 at Edward Moringe and Solomon Mahlangu Campuses as well as broadcasted on social media.

Ms. Hilda Gamuya insisted that the office of the Dean of students is close to students and should be used effectively in the students’ day-to-day undertakings. Pointing out the functions of the office she said the office is responsible for looking after the welfare of students at the University. In this regard, the DoS office works in collaboration with other directorates, departments, units at SUA and works together to facilitate the needs of students. The office of Dean of Students is responsible for providing light/clear information, directives, advising, guidance, referral for further actions.

 Previously, Ms. Lydia Bupilipili the Principal Warden has explained to the students that they need to avoid mob psychology, asking them to avoid peer groups that lead to engaging in immoral actions that lower academic ability and effectiveness.

 "My sons, I have had a lot of experience about the effects of joining bad peer groups, if you don't have priorities to do well academically, you will find yourself joining bad groups that will lower your career and fail to achieve your dreams and parents' expectations for you", he said.

She added by imploring the students to start early thinking about life after studies so that they start thinking about investing and investment through the education they get, saying that by doing so it will help eliminate the concept of unemployment.
