The programme is geared towards developing the required human resource base in the region to address issues related to planning and management of land resources. Specifically, the programme is designed to:
(1) impart operating capabilities in the use of remotely sensed data;
(2) induce awareness in environmental protection; and
(3) strengthen competence and practical skills in rural development and sustainable agriculture.

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES AND ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Regulations pertaining to course evaluation shall be as per General University Examination Regulations and Guidelines for Postgraduate Programmes of Sokoine University of Agriculture.
Master of Science degree in Land Use Planning and Management will be awarded to candidate upon completion and successful passing of all core courses and selected elective courses in year one and Research starting in year two. Assessment criteria for various components of examinations shall be as per SUA general regulations and guidelines.
Candidates who have completed year 1 but could not meet the requirement for the degree due to various reasons will qualify for postgraduate Diploma in land Use Planning and Management.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
The Admission regulations for Masters Degrees as stipulated in "Regulations and guidelines for higher degrees" of Sokoine University of Agriculture shall apply.
